The Tactical Command Course will give the delegates the skills, knowledge and confidence to manage a wide range of incidents at a Tactical level.

Places on this course are only available to managers who are expected to perform the role of Tactical Commander as part of their daily role and be on the Trust on call rota at a Tactical level.

This course competency based and assessed and is Pass/Fail.  The course is aligned to current JESIP Doctrine, NARU C2 and NOS.

NXGENi Course

The NXGENi course is designed to aid the delegate to deliver NXGEN training to new wearers in their Trusts. The delegate will be provided with the material to aid delivery of this capability. The course has a blend of learning activities which include theoretical and practical elements. There is a summative exam and practical assessments which require successful completion. Failure to reach the standard will result in the delegates return to Trust.

Operational / On Scene Command

The operational response to a CBRN, terrorism event or Major Incident is recognised as being extremely complex and challenging; and is likely to require a mutual aid response in order to assist the Trust managing the incident.

This course provides a common standard of initial training and education aligned to the Ambulance Commanders National Occupational Standards (NOS), Ambulance Service Command standards as well as the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP) Joint Doctrine: The Interoperability Framework and National Ambulance Service Command and Control Guidance document (2015)

This course is now competency based (Pass or Fail) and delegates will be formally assessed throughout the duration of the four days.

This is not a refresher course.  Once this course has been completed it is your responsibility to maintain a portfolio to show Continued Professional Development (CPD).

It is essential the Pre-course assignment (please see pre-course material tab) is emailed to the course lead, this can be no later than 72hrs prior to the course start.  Throughout the course there will be daily knowledge checks to monitor your progress.

HART Initial EDBA Course – Module 1

The aim of the course is to provide newly-recruited HART Paramedics with the skills required to safely and competently operate in Extended Duration Breathing Apparatus in a variety of environments. Spread over two consecutive weeks; with a blend of theory and practical training; the course will ensure that all students are taught to a national standard that is in-line with HART SOPs, and with reference to current Fire Service national operational guidance where applicable.

The use of breathing apparatus is a safety critical operation and HART staff undergo regular training in order to maintain their confidence and competency.  In order to maintain national consistency, the Breathing Apparatus Instructor course is delivered by NARU and the Fire Service College. Candidates will return to their local HART units and share best practice, support training and contribute to national development.

Fit Test (Portacount) Operator Training

Competent TSI Portacount Fit Test Operator Training is a full day course aimed at those who require an in-depth knowledge of Face Fit Testing using the TSI Portacount. This course covers the Competent Fit Test Operator criteria set out in HSE282/28 but also includes many additional practical elements including troubleshooting, how to  plan and manage a fit test program and an advanced practical session.

HART Mod 4 (Urban Search and Rescue) Paramedic

It is essential that HART units maintain the capability to deliver excellent clinical care to patients in an Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) environment. This course builds on the skills and knowledge gained from Module 1, 2&3 (Incident Response Unit (IRU)) Course, and focuses on confined space medicine, safe systems of work and delivering high quality clinical care in difficult and challenging environments.

PLEASE NOTE: These will only be open to operational members of HART teams and places will be allocated by each unit’s HART Manager.  Aspiring candidates should contact their HART training manager for information about the selection process that will be used to select candidates for their HART unit.

SWAH – It is the responsibility of the Trust to ensure all attendees are working in line with the PPE requirement regulations.
